In terms of global and south-south work, our focuses are trilateral cooperation in third countries, experience sharing on foreign aid systems, global and regional issues, private sector engagement, and sharing development experiences and lessons through south-south dialogue.

UNDP’s goals in China are closely linked to the government’s. As well as implementing measures to facilitate the achievement of the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we provide support to the government’s domestic development as part of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the focus of which is on reducing inequality, recalibrating the economy for more inclusive, stable growth, reducing the environmental impacts of China’s rapid development, and continuing China’s emergence as a key player on the global stage.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Professional and accurate Chinese to English and English to Chinese text translation services, including but not limited to:

annual reports
situation analysis
newsletters
press releases
human interest stories
briefing books
documents and/or files published by UNDP and partners

2. Ensure that the translation text is technically, linguistically and grammatically correct, error free and it should meet high quality standards, and would not need further editing after completion of translation;
3. Provide accurate and timely translation to the satisfaction of UNDP standards;
4. Observe confidentially and refrain from divulging any information about the content of the text;
5. Return the original of the documents to UNDP after completion of the services;
6. Translation shall be done within agreed deadlines;
7. Margin of errors per page shall not be more than 3 errors;
8. The translated materials should be provided to UNDP after completion of the required services in a hard copy and a soft copy;
9. The documents translated remains the copyright of UNDP and should not be shared to any third party.

Required Skills and Experience

Education
University degree in English language, translation, international relations and/or related fields;
Experience
at least 3 years of progressively responsible in translation with an international organization is preferred;
Language Requirements
Fluency in written English and Chinese.
Remuneration

Remuneration will be paid within one month, after the assignment is accomplished, and satisfied by the request unit.

Evaluation Criteria

The award of the contract will be made to the Individual Consultant who has obtained the highest Combined Score and has accepted UNDP’s General Terms and Conditions. Only those applications which are technically responsive (passing 70% of technical scores) and compliant will be evaluated. The offers will be evaluated using the “Combined Scoring method” where:

Technical evaluation - 70%;

Financial Evaluation - 30%.
